Optima Electrical Training – Health & Safety Policy

 1. Introduction

At Optima Electrical Training (OET), the health, safety, and well-being of our learners, staff, and visitors is of paramount importance. This policy sets out our approach to maintaining a safe training environment and the responsibilities of all individuals while on our premises or participating in any OET activities.

2. General Responsibilities

  • All individuals must take reasonable care of their own safety and that of others.

  • Learners must follow all instructions issued by OET staff and trainers at all times.

  • Unsafe behaviour, misuse of equipment, or failure to follow safety procedures may result in removal from the course.

3. Use of Tools & Equipment

  • Learners are not required to bring personal tools, but may do so at their discretion.

  • Learners using personal tools do so entirely at their own risk. OET accepts no responsibility for loss, damage, or injury resulting from their use.

  • OET provides tools and equipment that are regularly inspected and maintained.

4. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • PPE must be worn where indicated. This includes, but is not limited to:

    • ·       Safety boots

    • ·       High-visibility vests

    • ·       Safety goggles

    • ·       Gloves

  • Failure to wear required PPE when instructed may result in removal from practical sessions.

5. Accidents, First Aid & Reporting

  • All accidents or near misses must be reported immediately to a member of staff.

  • First aid facilities are available on-site, and a trained First Aider is present during all practical sessions.

  • An accident report will be completed for any injury or incident, regardless of severity.

6. Fire Safety

  • Fire exits and assembly points are clearly marked throughout the building.

  • Fire drills may take place during your course.

  • In the event of an alarm, all individuals must evacuate immediately and report to the designated assembly point.

7. Liability Disclaimer

While every effort is made to maintain a safe learning environment, Optima Electrical Training cannot accept any responsibility or liability for injuries, harm, or damages sustained during training activities or resulting from the improper or unauthorised use of tools, equipment, or facilities — whether personally owned or provided by OET.

Learners participate in practical activities at their own risk and must follow all health and safety guidance provided by OET staff.

8. COVID-19 & Hygiene Practices (as applicable)

  • Hand sanitiser is provided throughout the building.

  • Workspaces and tools are cleaned regularly.

  • Learners are expected to observe any public health guidance in place at the time of their training.

9. Review & Policy Management

This policy is reviewed annually or in response to any significant incident or change in legislation. Any updates will be communicated to all staff and learners accordingly.
