AN ELECTRIC car charging network provider is set to introduce new super fast chargers which claim to recharge 220-miles of range in just 10 minutes.
A new set of superfast electric car chargers are being rolled out across the UK which will be able to provide drivers with hundreds of miles of charge in just a few minutes. The rapid 350kW charge points are being rolled out across the IONITY charging network, reports Auto Express. It is being claimed that these super speedy charging points will provide 220-miles of range within just 10 minutes. This is extraordinary and would definitely reduce range anxiety and make ownership more appealing by slashing charge times.
Bringing these charging points to market is Tritium and IONITY who have partnered to deliver these chargers to 120 sites across Europe.
One problem with this new technology is that currently no car can handle a charge rate of 350kW but as vehicles become updated over time the stations will be ready to provide faster charging.
Tritium says these rapid chargers will be compatible with the Combined Charging System (CCS) which is a popular port used by a number of carmakers.
David Finn, CEO, and co-founder of Tritium said to AutoExpress: “IONITY has a vision for electric vehicle charging which mirrors ours.
“It’s not just about the speed of the charge, but the experience for customers.
“These chargers will soon be ubiquitous along the highways of Europe and ensure that the increasing number of EV owners across the continent will be able to drive whenever and wherever they want.”
IONITY made a deal with Shell in 018 to install 500 rapid chartering points across 80 forecourts in Europe by 2020. A total of 44 of the 500 are destined to launch in the UK.
