The Level 1 Diploma in Electrical installations is the industry recognised route to get on your way to becoming a fully qualified electrician making you eligible to work in the domestic, commercial and industrial sectors. The City & Guilds 2365 Level 1 Course covers all of the essential electrical installation skills, knowledge of electrical science and electrical principles to be confident in working within the electrical industry. 

What will I learn?

All our courses are designed to cover the full range of topics and tasks as laid down by the awarding body in response to industry requirements. All practical activities are carried out within our state of the art workshops with theory work being a mix of classroom and assignment activities. 

The course consists of assessment units which assess the competence of a candidate over a wide range of activities. There will be a high emphasis on Health and Safety and correct working methods. The Unit titles are: 

1 Structure of the Construction Industry 
2 Fundamental safe working practices 
3 Environmental and sustainability measures in domestic dwellings 
4 Site preparation or working in the construction industry 
5 Carry Electrical Installation wiring and terminations 
6 Fabrication techniques for Electrical Installations 
7 Electrical science and technology

What do I need?

You will need to attend College for an interview, complete an initial assessment, which is a test to check your level of English and maths and have a good reference.

How is the course taught?

Your lessons will be mainly theory based, with practical training and assessment which will include assignment writing and theory tests.

How will I be assessed?

This qualification is 50% practical and 50% Theory.

Your assessment will be carried out on your completed practical tasks using industry standards. Written assessments will be multiple choice paper-based exams and written assignments.

What does it lead to?

From this course you can progress onto Level 2 in Electrical Installations, subject to full completion of the Level 1 and a satisfactory level of attendance. You will also making progress on being considered as an electrical apprentice by employers.

Exam & Assessments

To gain the City and Guilds qualification, you will be required to complete a number of assessments which consists of online examinations, practical assessments and written question assignments. To help you prepare for these assessments, you will be working through the course books and be provided with the necessary work pack, notes, hand-outs, examples of test questions, as well as timed mock tests and ample time and opportunities to practise and complete the practical elements.
